A unique edition is an item or object of which only one unit is produced.
Unlike a prototype, which precedes industrial mass production, a unique edition is not mass-produced or copied. Unique editions are typically crafted items. In general, they are hand-crafted originals which have been designed for a specific person in accordance with their individual wishes. In contrast to product design, manufacturing costs and technical conditions play a minimal role.
